Paolo Marj is an internationally respected Italian sculptural artist whose studios are in Rome. His specialism is in lamps made from plexiglass, beech & walnut. The plexiglass is sandblasted, then individually hand moulded, creating lamps of truly extraordinary beauty. His lamps range from conical shaped wall lights to stand-alone floral cups. Both the colour of the plexiglass and the stain on the timbers can be individualised to personal taste.
Paolo Marj's standing as a sculptural artist is well established. On the international front, Marj has exhibited in New York, London, Barcelona & Lisbon. At home, he is a regular contributor to Italy's Interiors Magazines and has had numerous successful exhibitions throughout Italy for more than two decades. He was recently honoured by the Italian State who commissioned him to light the newly restored Castel Sant'Angelo on the river Tiber. Lovers of opera will remember that Castel Sant'Angelo is the setting for the third act of Puccini's renowned opera Tosca, with Tosca throwing herself from the battlements at the finale. Castel Sant'Angelo is now a national cultural centre with concert performances. To have been entrusted with the lighting of this much-loved building was a signal honour for Paolo Marj.
