 Design is a new company set up in Ireland which imports contemporary high quality hand made sculptural pieces from Italy.
Design have identified two significant contemporary Italian artists, Paolo Marj and Domenico Passagrilli, with whom to collaborate. Each is a strong individualist and between them they offer a comprehensive range of pieces in lighting design
Jane Pavitt was curator of 'Brilliant' at the V&A Museum, London in 2004. She says: ‘Lighting has recently moved from the realm of functional design into the realm of contemporary art and craft. It has become so experimental that it can be hard to distinguish between function and art. Lighting is probably the most complex of all design forms because it is a combination of the high-tech and the hand made'.
